The 2011 Oakland Baseball Golf Tournament was a huge success this year, making it 10 consecutive years the fundraiser has kick started the program. As one of the largest fundraisers for the program, the golf tournament continues to be a highlight and a great way to start the new season.

The 2012 Oakland HS varsity baseball schedule has been released. This year’s schedule features matchups against several teams from the 2011 postseason, such as Overton HS, Independence HS, and Mt. Juliet HS, as well as the usual stiff competition from within District 7AAA.

Zach Cole (2011), 2B, has committed to Cumberland University to play baseball. Cole is the 7th player from that class to have the opportunity to continue his baseball career at the collegiate level.
In the spring 2011 season, Zach started all 35 games at 2B for the Patriots. He batted .328 from the lead-off spot, and stole 9 bases in 12 attempts. In the field, Cole sported a .925 fielding percentage.

The Daily News Journal announced the 2011 All Area team. Several Patriots were chosen to the team for their efforts on the field.
Named to the 1st team was Lipscomb signee Griffin Moore. Moore, a senior, was chosen as an outfielder, hitting .368 with 8 doubles, 4 homeruns, and 33 RBI’s.

Chase Fann, Ryan Hawks and Griffin Moore have recently been named to the All Region team for Region 4. This team, compiled by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association, is comprised of high schools from District 7AAA and District 8AAA. Players are chosen by the Region directors based on nominations by HS coaches. Fann, 3B, Moore, RHP/OF/1B, and Hawks, RHP/1B, all led the Patriots in various categories and were 3 year starters in their career at Oakland.
