Oakland baseball has a long tradition of great baseball. Just take a look at the Tradition Wall outside the Patriot locker room and you’ll see more titles than most programs in Tennessee. Great coaching, combined with great athletes, has been the trademark of the program at Oakland. For the second year in a row, Lipscomb signee Griffin Moore (2011) was named to The Tennessean All-Midstate team.  Moore was chosen to the third team as an infielder.  In 2010, Moore was chosen as an outfielder.

Two members of the Class of 2011 Patriots baseball team will continue their baseball careers at Volunteer State in Gallatin, TN. Stevie Smith, RHP, and Wesley Monaghan, IF, have committed to play for the Pioneers.

Senior 1B/RHP Ryan Hawks has committed to play baseball at DIII powerhouse Birmingham Southern College.

Hawks was recruited to pitch and play in the field.  “At first I just wanted to be a pitcher,” Hawks said. “But I’ve hit the ball well this year. I think I want to continue hitting.”
